The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reports that two newsletters and one marketing campaign from the National Wildlife Refuge System have been cited for their excellence by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals, which received almost 5,000 entries in the 2009 MarCom Awards.

Presently Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge in Virginia is closed due to storm damage. They’ve posted photos of the damage on the FWS website. Here’s hoping they’re able to recover quickly from this destructive storm.

The Wildlife Refuge Caucus in the House of Representatives welcomed two new members: Representative Ben Ray Lujan (NM), and Delegate Gregorio Sablan (Northern Mariana Islands). The Wildlife Refuge Caucus is a bipartisan group that unites members to address wildlife refuge issues. Caucus membership now includes 139 members representing 41 states.
